Chapter 43. Metabolism combined growth model construction and its application to optimal bioreactor operation, 761-769

With the purpose of producing valuable products from living organism, optimization and regulation of biological processes have become essential. In this chapter, we focus on the utilization of dynamic model, especially one combined with metabolism information, and the optimal operation of bioreactor using the model in a systematic manner. We review and discuss the elements of this systematic approach, specifically model construction and optimal decision making. Furthermore, illustrative examples that can further understanding are provided.
